A Wintery Engagement

Back when we still had snow on the ground, I had the pleasure of teaming up with Leigh from Schrage Photography for a cozy, winter-themed engagement shoot. The couple that Leigh photographed couldn’t have been more adorable and I loved the fact that they were more than willing to try any of the ideas we had up our sleeve. Check out a few of our favorites from the shoot...

All pictures taken by Schrage Photography.

Thanks again Leigh for letting me be apart of this shoot - I had a blast!

Winter Wonderland Inspiration

I recently had the pleasure of helping out a local photographer with an outdoor winter-themed engagement shoot (pictures coming soon!). From the moment I was asked to help style this shoot – ideas started flowing as to how I could incorporate props to create a few cute and cozy winter settings. In need of a little kick of inspiration I hit the web in hopes of running across a few unique ideas. I thought I’d share with you what I found and pass on some of the winter wonderland inspiration! Enjoy!

Photography Trends

I love the trends we are seeing these days with photography: natural, casual and the use of props. Whether you’re taking engagement pictures or doing a family portrait, you can’t go wrong with being surrounded by nature. Some of my favorite props to use are rustic chairs, vintage quilts, crates, umbrella’s and bikes. Using props in photo shoots seem to really bring out the personalities of the individuals being photographed.

If you have a photo shoot coming up and would like to add a touch of personality and charm, Lovely Details is here to help you! Below you will find a few of our lovely vintage items in action, as well as some fabulous photos by others. Enjoy!

Sweet Dessert Table

Candy buffets and dessert tables are becoming more and more popular in the wedding world. I know it’s not necessarily “vintage” but I’m a huge fan!

Dessert tables are found not only at wedding receptions, they also make a lovely addition to bridal showers, baby showers, engagement parties, graduation parties, Christmas parties, birthday parties and the list goes on and on. I absolutely LOVE dessert tables because it’s a visual delight for any age group and guests aren’t expecting to see a table full of candy or dessert, so it can be quite exciting!

Empty Frame Inspiration

Last weekend I was out antiquing with one of my good friends and we happened to run into a pile of empty frames. I instantly became excited to see what we just ran into, and knew I had to buy a few. My friend on the other hand looked at me funny and asked, “Seriously, what the heck would you do with empty frames?!” I just laughed and tried my best to explain to her all the crazy ideas in my head. As we continued to walk around this old barn, that puzzled look on my friends face along with the question “What would you do with that?” came up quite often. That's when I realized there are so many great details that can be incorporated into the design of an event, but not many people know where to begin with these details. So......it's time for a kick of inspiration!

Today’s case in point – How to use empty frames.
