Photography Trends

I love the trends we are seeing these days with photography: natural, casual and the use of props. Whether you’re taking engagement pictures or doing a family portrait, you can’t go wrong with being surrounded by nature. Some of my favorite props to use are rustic chairs, vintage quilts, crates, umbrella’s and bikes. Using props in photo shoots seem to really bring out the personalities of the individuals being photographed.

If you have a photo shoot coming up and would like to add a touch of personality and charm, Lovely Details is here to help you! Below you will find a few of our lovely vintage items in action, as well as some fabulous photos by others. Enjoy!

Sweet Dessert Table

Candy buffets and dessert tables are becoming more and more popular in the wedding world. I know it’s not necessarily “vintage” but I’m a huge fan!

Dessert tables are found not only at wedding receptions, they also make a lovely addition to bridal showers, baby showers, engagement parties, graduation parties, Christmas parties, birthday parties and the list goes on and on. I absolutely LOVE dessert tables because it’s a visual delight for any age group and guests aren’t expecting to see a table full of candy or dessert, so it can be quite exciting!

Empty Frame Inspiration

Last weekend I was out antiquing with one of my good friends and we happened to run into a pile of empty frames. I instantly became excited to see what we just ran into, and knew I had to buy a few. My friend on the other hand looked at me funny and asked, “Seriously, what the heck would you do with empty frames?!” I just laughed and tried my best to explain to her all the crazy ideas in my head. As we continued to walk around this old barn, that puzzled look on my friends face along with the question “What would you do with that?” came up quite often. That's when I realized there are so many great details that can be incorporated into the design of an event, but not many people know where to begin with these details. So......it's time for a kick of inspiration!

Today’s case in point – How to use empty frames.

Have I mentioned that I offer event styling whether you are renting from us or not? It’s true! My Pinterest Obsession

I’m sure most of you are starting to become familiar with the wonderful world of Pinterest. I myself learned about Pinterest a few weeks ago and now I’m hooked. Okay…..more like completely obsessed! Oh my, I can spend hours on this inspirational site!

What is Pinterest?

This is the best explanation I can come up with: It’s a place to organize and share ideas and inspiration. It’s a virtual pegboard where you stick the things that you like, that you love, things that you want to share or things that give you inspiration. The best part is, you can follow other people and boards that have the same interests as you.

This site can be a helpful tool for photographers, florists and event planners to keep track of all the amazing ideas out there. Never again will you pass by that cool photo shoot idea or extravagant table scape any more. Now, just pin it!  As for all you brides out there - if you haven’t already signed up for Pinterest you are missing out on the worlds coolest website. You are also missing out on ways to keep yourself organized and the opportunities to check out ever-so-lovely and unique wedding ideas! It’s hard to explain, but it’s awesome!

For me, I am bound and determined to justify my Pinterest obsession by actually putting Pinterest to work. Instead of just marveling at the cool DIY ideas I want to create them! I’m thinking a Saturday afternoon girls get-together is in order to work on projects! Everyone must bring your paintbrushes, fabrics, toolboxes and craft supplies (and I suppose my husband should stick around in case we need a little manpower).

Okay, so I’ve become a little obsessed with pinning, but I love the fact that I can find other vintage lovers out there like me and see how they incorporate their finds with their events. It’s a great way to showcase all the lovely aspects of decorating with vintage pieces. I’ve started a Lovely Details pin board, and here are some of my favorite pins so far:

Pure vintage elegance. Can't go wrong with mason jars, white milk glass, old books and window frames.

Photographers: check out how cute this photo shoot is!

Luggage!

Great inspiration board

Absolutely fabulous

What a unique way to decorate with a ladder

You can find more pins like these on my Lovely Details pin board. Enjoy!
